10 Reasons Alicante is a Great Beach Town

After visiting Valencia, my mother, sister and I took a train down the coast to another town, Alicante. Although smaller and lesser known than Valencia, it has all the elements that make it a perfect beach town.

1. Wide sandy beach with beautiful warm water - no chills when walking in!

2. Gorgeous yachts lining the port.

3. Palm tree lined boardwalk with seaside restaurants.

4. Perfect harmony between the beach and the city. 

5. Panoramic views from the medieval “Santa Barbara” castle on a seaside mountain.

6. Old town with its shops and squares and packed restaurants in the evening.

7. Art and archaeological museums.

8. Shopping of all kinds - stands, department stores and smaller boutiques.

9. Walkable city - it's pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around.

10. Nightlife for all - casino, disco, amusement park, bars, strolls, street entertainers
