My heart cries for Barcelona

I wish I could wake up from this nightmare—today’s terror attack in Barcelona. I have grown to love this city and its people. This senseless attack on innocent lives has shaken me, along with my new Spanish friends. Although I left Barcelona a few days ago, I can still envision the street where the attack occurred, several blocks from where I lived. Only a few days ago, I walked down Las Ramblas with my host sisters and friends. While I’m relieved that my host family and friends are safe, the reality is that this attack has affected the lives of many innocent victims. But, like many Spaniards, their faith is strong and through prayer they find comfort. To all the families and friends of the victims of today’s terror attack, I send you my prayers and love.
